Nozhay-Yurtovsky District

Nozhay-Yurtovsky District (Russian: Ножа́й-Ю́ртовский райо́н), also known as Nozhai-Yurt District, is a raion (district) of the Chechen Republic, Russia. The administrative center of the District is the village of Nozhay-Yurt.
In 2004, the District official data reported some 40 villages with a population of 45,000 people, including 15,000 children (0-17 years). 2002 population—40,542; 1995—around 45,000.
Overall health performance indicators of the District are much worse than officially reflected, considering the remote geographic location of the District and that most of its populace has limited access to state health care. Mortality rates are still among the highest in Chechnya for 2004. Infant mortality rate is 51.4. High perinatal rate is 40.8. Still birth rate is 20.0 and early neonatal mortality is 9.4.
