Novohrad-Volynskyi

Novohrad-Volynskyi (Ukrainian: Новоград-Волинський, translit., Novohrad-Volyns’kyi, Russian: Новоград-Волынский, translit., Novograd-Volynsky, Yiddish: זוויל translit. Zvil) is a city in the Zhytomyr Oblast (province) of northern Ukraine. Serving as the administrative center of the Novohrad-Volynskyi Raion (district), the city itself is also designated as a separate raion within the oblast.

The town is best known as a birth place of Lesya Ukrainka, famous Ukranian poet.

The current estimated population is around 56,000 (as of 2001).
