Novice is a city in Coleman County, Texas, United States. The population was 142 at the 2000 census.

Novice is located at 31°59′19″N, 99°37′31″W (31.988664, -99.625334)GR1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 1.2 km² (0.4 mi²), all land.

As of the censusGR2 of 2000, there were 142 people, 57 households, and 40 families residing in the city. The population density was 121.8/km² (314.2/mi²). There were 65 housing units at an average density of 55.8/km² (143.8/mi²). The racial makeup of the city was 98.59% White, 0.70% Native American, and 0.70% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 5.63% of the population.

There were 57 households out of which 28.1% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 63.2% were married couples living together, 5.3% had a female householder with no husband present, and 29.8% were non-families. 28.1% of all households were made up of individuals and 14.0% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.49 and the average family size was 3.08.

In the city the population was spread out with 27.5% under the age of 18, 4.2% from 18 to 24, 29.6% from 25 to 44, 19.0% from 45 to 64, and 19.7% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 39 years. For every 100 females there were 100.0 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 102.0 males.

The median income for a household in the city was $30,833, and the median income for a family was $32,000. Males had a median income of $22,250 versus $16,250 for females. The per capita income for the city was $11,766. There were 14.3% of families and 19.3% of the population living below the poverty line, including 26.5% of under eighteens and 11.1% of those over 64.
