[edit] New diagram

I changed the picture to a slightly more colourful one. I hope I've kept the essentials correct. Codec 10:51, 16 December 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Differences with old diagram

The previous diagram showed Notch 1 extracellular with O-fucose tetrasaccharides and O-glucose trisaccharides on the individual EGF-like repeats that actually contain the sugars (there is a consensus sequence for these types of glycosylation). There is a small, mostly transmembrane remnant of Notch still in the membrane subsequent to gamma-secretase cleavage which would emphasise that both the Notch extracellular domain and and NICD are being cleaved away from the larger Notch heterodimer during the signaling process.

Hopefully added back in Codec 09:45, 21 December 2005 (UTC)

I'll probably add a schematic of Notch 1 that is blown up, shows the EGF-like repeats, glycosylation, other domains of Notch etc. in the future.

I like the picture but it would be good if the small differences could be made more like the previous one for increased accuracy, and because future pictures will be related to the previous one I put up. If you like, I could provide the pictures directly, and you could spruce them up for presentation. Stauffenberg, 16 December 2005

I'm not a great artist, but if you want to send me sketches, I can try enhancing them. Or just upload them and I'll replace them if I think I can do better. Likewise please change the current one if you wish.Codec 16:55, 17 December 2005 (UTC)
