Nothing, Arizona

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Nothing is a small, unincorporated settlement in Arizona with four inhabitants.[1] The locals tell travelers it "got named by a bunch of drunks."[2]

The settlement was established in 1977, and is located 50 miles north of Phoenix Arizona[3] and roughly 20 miles south of Wikieup, the “rattlesnake capitol of Arizona.”[4] It is west of Bagdad, Arizona at Mile Post 148 1/2 on U.S. Route 93, The Joshua Forest Scenic Parkway, between Wickenburg and Kingman, on the route from Las Vegas, NV to Phoenix, AZ.[5]

The Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) installed one of four motorist callboxes on U.S. 93 at Nothing.[6]

[edit] Commerce and Attractions

The entire population runs a gas stop and garage. The gas station has a flat bed truck selling rocks and minerals found nearby as local souvenirs. Behind the gas station, down the embankment, is a small scrap heap.

There is an Airstream caravan that may interest visitors. The gas station also has a cage of live canaries that are quite talkitive, as well as other comedic artifacts.

Some suggest that Nothing be demolished and incorporated into another town. However, this has earned little support as the town is highly popular.
