[edit] Talk page blanking
It's a bit indecorous for you to have removed all of the comments on the talk page. You previously raised an objection to my noting the closing point spreads in the summary for each bowl game (which debate I won't reopen here), and, although I removed your comment from my user page itself, inasmuch as it seemed out of place there, I certainly wouldn't have thought to remove it from my talk page. One hopes that simply deleting criticsm that is categorically constructive does not make you think that the underlying problems are somehow vitiatied. It is ever harder for me to follow the tenets to which most of us subscribe as spelled out in WP:AGF. I haven't reverted the talk page here, as I don't think it's my place to do so, but I would surely encourage you to reconsider your evisceration of the page. Cordially, Joe 00:12 17 Jan 2006 (UTC).
[edit] 2006 NFL Draft
Sorry for doubting you on Kiper, but I found his main page, where he lists differently than you said. See the article, then contact my talk page if you have any questions. — Ian Manka Talk to me! 07:48, 18 January 2006 (UTC)
- I've posted the link in the same line as the speculation. I'm generally not this much of an ass when it comes to sources, but I'm only trying to please another user (was it Cryptic) who came and yelled at us (the contributors) for not citing sources. You can revert my changes, and unsource the claim. I trust you that much. Sorry for any inconvienence. — Ian Manka Talk to me! 09:13, 18 January 2006 (UTC) (forgot to sign)

[edit] Request for comment
Although I am not really involved in the dispute, I noticed that you may not be aware that a request for comment has been filed involving your contributions to the sports current events articles. I know it kind of looks like a legal proceeding, but don't panic - a request for comment is simply a way of gauging community consensus and trying to give you constructive criticism about how to become a better Wikipedian. For starters, you should definitely provide a response to the "statement of the dispute" in the indicated section, and if you have any extended comments you should use the talk page there. Let me know if you have any questions about the process. (ESkog)(Talk) 15:29, 28 January 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Image Tagging Image:Rally_Monkey.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Rally_Monkey.jpg. The image page currently doesn't specify who created the image, so the copyright status is therefore unclear. If you have not created the image yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the image on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the image yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.
If the image also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture then you can use {{GFDL}} to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the image qualifies as fair use, please read fair use, and then use a tag such as {{fairusein|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other images, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of image pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, contact Carnildo.
[edit] Image copyright problem with Image:DSCN0401_edited.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:DSCN0401_edited.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).
The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images on Wikipedia is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}
.
Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. You can get help on image copyright tagging from Wikipedia talk:Image copyright tags.
[edit] "Don't remove content"?
In response to this comment you left (unsigned) in my Talk Page:
"Please stop removing content from Wikipedia; it is considered vandalism. If you want to experiment, please use the sandbox. Thank you."
Well, first of all, you seem to not have heard of Wikipedia's Be Bold suggestion when editing pages. Second, I'm not removing content, I'm removing baseless fan speculation that is of no encyclopaedic value. I'm not sure which of my edits you've taken offense to, but I remove things like "resemblances to unrelated characters", "opinions of groups of fans", and unnecessary references to fanfiction. If you're the kind of person who thinks it's absolutely fascinating that KOS-MOS shares the same hair colour with Rei Ayanami, I can see how I'd upset you. But barring any consensus against me or editorial intervention, I will continue to edit in the same fashion. --Marcg106 03:02, 1 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image Tagging Image:TomKenny.jpg
|
Thanks for uploading Image:TomKenny.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then there needs to be an argument why we have the right to use the media on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then it needs to be specified where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.
If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media qualifies as fair use, consider reading fair use, and then use a tag such as {{fairusein|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. [edit] Image uploading
Please try to upload somewhat decent quality images if you intend to replace others. JuniperLeeGroup.jpg and Juniper3.jpg are extremely poor quality and become even worse when stretched out. They do not help identify characters or a show if they're that blurry. Images should at least be clear at 300px wide. That way, they still look fine when resized. - Someguy0830 (Talk | contribs) 23:39, 4 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Rating images
I'm getting tired of reverting this, so here's a short explanation. One, the images are meant to illustrate the ratings on Television rating system. They are not supposed to be used elsewhere. Two, they're barely readable when at 20px, so they shouldn't take the place of regular text.
- Someguy, I will try on each show to put the rating in a new paragraph in the USA and Canada with a minimum of 40 px, deal? NoseNuggets 5:37 PM US EDT April 8 2006.
- No deal. It breaks fair use to use it anywhere else. Read the copyright info. Image:TV-Y.gif - Someguy0830 (Talk | contribs) 21:41, 8 April 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Template:Infobox:Children's TV Show Ratings
Again, it uses the images, which are meant for critical commentary on the original page only. Plus, it has no options. It's just those images. Infoboxes are made with the intent of being flexible. It should have the option to input the rating. - Someguy0830 (Talk | contribs) 03:54, 13 April 2006 (UTC)
- It will depend on what series type. For example, on "Juniper Lee" it would be US-TV Y7 FB, Canada-C8, Australia (if it airs there) G. For "The Doodlebops", it would be US-TV Y, Canada-C, Australia (if it airs there) P. I just put all the ratings there as an example. NoseNuggets 11:58 PM US EDT Apr 12 2006.
Then you'd have to adjust it for optional fields, which there's already a template for (Template:Infobox TV ratings). - Someguy0830 (Talk | contribs) 04:00, 13 April 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Image copyright problem with Image:Bloo.png
Thanks for uploading Image:Bloo.png. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).
The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}
.
Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me, or ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. --Hetar 05:57, 23 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] KYW-TV
Once again, I reverted this article back to a previous version for two reasons:
1: single-digit numbers should be written in WORD FORM, not numerically; and
2: the letter c in the word channel should be lower-cased unless the word leads off a sentence.
These are basic stylistic principles which you incorrectly changed. Please take note of this before you decide to re-revert again. Rollosmokes 15:55, 17 August 2006 (UTC)

Vandalism?! Where does it say that you need to put up credits for every picture instance? Stuff like that should be restricted to the Image Page. Of course, if that's a Wikipedia policy, I would be glad to know of it. --The Raven's Apprentice (Talk|Contribs) 14:39, 18 August 2006 (UTC)
- Just to remind you that you still haven't replied. You can't just threaten to report someone for vandalism and not deign to reply to their objections. And, in my opinion, you should read WP:VANDAL again. Unless you can justify the credits, I will be removing them again. Thank you, The Raven's Apprentice (Talk|Contribs) 07:38, 19 August 2006 (UTC)
- I'm not trying to forbid you from saying that you've taken the photo, I'm just asking you to restrict the credits to the Image Page. See Wikipedia:Image use policy#User-created images, the last line of the section says "All photo credit should be in a summary on the image description page." Per this, I'm removing the credits again. Cheers, The Raven's Apprentice (Talk|Contribs) 06:04, 20 August 2006 (UTC)
[edit] License tagging for Image:Artieimaginaryfriend.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Artieimaginaryfriend.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.
For more information on using images, see the following pages:

The play by play of Olbermann's response to the Talking Points Memo isn't exactly encyclopedic, doesn't add to the article, and is included in the link to Media Matters if the person really wants to see that amount of details. The 2 paragraphs I removed from the Fox News Security incident were both violations of WP:BLP, in my opinion. The first paragraph was completely uncited and contained personal attacks against Bill O'Reilly that were attributed to Keith Olbermann without the proper citations to support their inclusion in the article. The second paragraph fails WP:RS, in that, the "some critics" is supported by a blog from an unknown person and self-published sources are only acceptable if they are from a "well-known, professional researcher writing within his field of expertise, or a well-known professional journalist ..."WP:RS#Self-published sources --Bobblehead 17:25, 18 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Netball entries
Hi there, i noticed you have removed the entries on the Portal:Current events/Sports page for the international netball results. Although netball may not be a major sport in the US, it is considered one of the premier womans sports in several other countries. I don't want to clog up the Portal:Current events/Sports page either but I think having the results of international netball test matches (especially when the world's 2 top ranked teams are involved) ranks equally as important as the 2006 Lusophony Games for example. cheers Goldfinger820 23:07, 16 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Orphaned fair use image (Image:Z kasumi ag.jpg)
Thanks for uploading Image:Z kasumi ag.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently specifies that the image is unlicensed for use on Wikipedia and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. [edit] Monthly sports articles
Hi, I see you've created November in sports 2006, which a newbie has already slapped a notability tag on! I just wanted to point out that the correct format for the monthly article is November 2006 in sports, which I created a couple of days ago. [edit] deleting content
I was wondering why you were deleting some additions to the current sports news page? SportsAddicted | discuss 07:23, 5 November 2006 (UTC)
- Events that are not considered a "world championship" (Super Bowl for example) or "major event" (Formula 1 race as an example) are deleted. The cyclocross events that were posted were not considered into that type of category, hence they were deleted. NoseNuggets 10:14 AM US EST Nov 5 2006.
- Totally disagree, first of all they were World Cup meetings, second of all they're very notible events. What about tons of results of college football and other American competitions every day? What about NASCAR results? Why are these more notable in your opinion? SportsAddicted | discuss 05:15, 6 November 2006 (UTC)
-
- The only "World Cup" most people care about is the one in soccer (football) played every four years. As for American sports, I have already made the suggestion that the Current Events: Sports page be devided (as of January 2007) into North American and International pages. NoseNuggets 12:22 AM US EST Nov 6 2006.
- I can see wether the handball event you removed isn't seen as being notible to you, but that doesn't mean the only sports news that is notible are World Championships in a sport. If you're deleting that stuff, you should also delete for instance the figure skating as those aren't World Champions either and the same with many other information that is added. The fact that cyclo-cross isn't a sport you follow doesn't make the event not notible to be mentioned on the current sports news pages. If we are going to split up North American sports and international sports as of January 2007, we might also get us a policy on what is allowed on the lists and what not, as in my opinion decent information is being removed right now. SportsAddicted | discuss 09:18, 6 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Your image uploads
You've uploaded a lot of unfree images, claiming their use on Wikipedia is acceptable under the fair use guidelines. However, you have not provided a rationale for this on any image. Tagging the image page with a generic tag is not enough; you must explain why the specific use of the image in a particular article or articles is permissible as fair use. I recommend you review your upload log and explain your rationale for claiming fair use. Additionally, please remember that fair use should be used as sparingly as possible on Wikipedia, as it impedes redistribution of Wikipedia's content and raises the potential of legal problems. --Slowking Man 09:00, 6 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Daisuke Matsuzaka
The Daisuke Matuzaka announcement was made on Wednesday in Tokyo, though it was Tuesday US time. Please leave me a message or check the portal discussion page for more info. Ludahai 01:19, 16 November 2006 (UTC)
- Check the discussion page. There is general agreement that it should be based on where the event took place, not based on US time.Ludahai 01:39, 16 November 2006 (UTC)
- The world is not run on U.S. time. The page convention is to use the date based on there the event occurred. As it was in Japan, that prevails. [edit] Don't remove content
Nosenuggets - you have a lot of nerve to complain about be opening up a new date - despite the fact that it was nearly that date (two hours away) in my time zone when I opened it, and already that date in several countries. When you deleted it, Sunday had in fact started in much of Asia, including Taiwan where the event was taking place. You need to stop thinking of everything based on U.S. time. Considering that you posted Saturday football games on THURSDAY, you have absolutely NO RIGHT to complain about someone introducing a date that is only a couple of hours away in his own time zone and has, in fact, already started in part of the world. Ludahai 04:59, 20 November 2006 (UTC)
- Easy Ludahai, from what I see on your talk page he wasn't complaining about you opening the date (19th), but there was already a section about the 19th hidden in the content page and all you needed to do was making that visible instead of just adding the contant you wanted to share above the current day, that's all. Anyways, NoseNuggets could have moved it to the proper place instead of deleting it. SportsAddicted | discuss 08:17, 20 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] present tense
Hello,
I am getting tired of changing all of your edits on the sports current-events page from past to present tense. As you know, the style everyone else uses on the current-events pages is present tense, like in newspaper headlines -- "New York wins," not "New York won." Do you have some objection to the use of the present tense? If so, I'd prefer if you hash it out on the talk page rather than try to make policy unilaterally by typing however you want. Thanks -- Mwalcoff 00:31, 5 December 2006 (UTC)
[edit] A few suggestions
I would like to thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. However, it is recommended that you use the preview button before you save; this helps you find any errors you have made, and prevents clogging up recent changes and the page history. Thanks again.
(I've noticed that you tend to make many edits to the same page in a very short time and that you don't often append edit summaries to those edits. Your use of the preview button, in order that you might combine many consecutive edits into one broader edit, and your use of edit summaries, in order that other users should be able to ascertain the effect of your many changes, would surely assist other editors. Many thanks for your consideration!) 68.248.230.3 04:41, 15 December 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Please don't delete
Will you please stop deleting notible events from the current sports section? SportsAddicted | discuss 13:49, 15 December 2006 (UTC)
- I'd make a similar entreaty. It is not at all clear that there's a consensus for excisions such as this (if such excision was undertaken in view of the inaccuracy of the item—which inaccuracy is not facially evident—it was perhaps reasonable), and it is probably inappropriate for you to remove items such as that where the community has previously disfavored similar removals. In any event, though, you should never remove items (at least, I suppose, those that aren't blatant vandalism) without an edit summary; as Help:Edit summary, a de facto guideline, makes plain, an edit summary is especially important should you delete text, lest people should question your motives or simply be misled. Joe 19:34, 15 December 2006 (UTC)
Can you please re-read the suggestion above, asking you to use the preview button? This way other users that check the article's history don't have to check 40 edits every time they access the article. Thanks, SportsAddicted | discuss 00:12, 19 December 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Image:Eyes ajlanger.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Eyes ajlanger.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the image description page and edit it to add
{{Replaceable fair use disputed}}
, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template. - On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. [edit] Image:SbXLIIlogoandslogan.JPG
Thank you for uploading Image:SbXLIIlogoandslogan.JPG. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, because this is a 2640x2352px, high-resolution fair use image, it is considered a copyright violation and will be deleted. According to Wikipedia's fair use policy, the amount of copyrighted work used under fair use should be as little as possible. In particular, fair use media on Wikipedia should not be usable as substitutes for the original work. Thanks. Zzyzx11 (Talk) 23:46, 7 February 2007 (UTC)
- Besides, Image:NFL-SB 2339.png already shows the Super Bowl XLII logo. Plus it is in PNG format instead of JPEG, which according to Wikipedia's image use policy is the preferred file format for all logos and drawings because it doesn't contain any compression artifacts. Also, I am not sure if the slogan is needed on the image; it looks strange when it is the only one out of all of the other Super Bowl logos saved on Wikipedia. Best. [edit] Image:SarahNatochenny3.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:SarahNatochenny3.jpg.
{{Replaceable fair use disputed}}
, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Mosmof 15:53, 8 February 2007 (UTC)
[edit] re: China Bowl
Do you have another source. The only one I have seen is at http://www.nfl.com/news/story/9683120
- "NBC will carry the game live in the United States at 8:30 a.m. ET."
Zzyzx11 (Talk) 20:13, 10 February 2007 (UTC)
- Yes, but again, the 8:30 a.m. ET is currently the only cited reference the NFL has. If NBC has changed their plans to only do a "plausibly live" tape delayed broadcast, we need a source. Zzyzx11 (Talk) 20:33, 10 February 2007 (UTC)
[edit] 2007 in NASCAR Race Schedule Table
NN, Please see my comment on the 2007 in NASCAR talk page. I find the table a valuable format for the race schedule. I had refered to it a number of times prior to your deletion on the 14th. I don't mind your original deletion, as you cited the 2006 in NASCAR format as rationale, but I restored it for cause, and gave my reason. I'd like to talk about that before it is left out. - Thaimoss 20:29, 15 February 2007 (UTC)
- we refer to the format of the 2006 in NASCAR page and the bandwidth issues. If you want to set up a seperate page for that table, please do so. NoseNuggets 3:51 PM US EST Feb 15 2007.
Right, I noticed your citation of the 2006 format in your original deletion. So, help me understand how that format became the standard. Who is "we"? (" we refer to the format of the 2006...") Surely want to adhere to a standard, if there is one, but have a feeling this 'standard' is more of a case where we're just continuing something because we did it before, not because it is the best way to do it. Bandwith? You're kidding, right? The total byte count is about 5,000. Even at dial-up speeds, it would take less than one second to download that 40,000 bits of data. On the Duel #1 race, how about that James Hylton? I was kind of pulling for him on principle alone. - Thaimoss 21:05, 15 February 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Summaries, Please.
I have noticed that you often edit without an edit summary. Please do your best to always fill in the summary field. This is considered an important guideline in Wikipedia. Even a short summary is better than no summary. An edit summary is even more important if you delete any text; otherwise, people may think you're being sneaky. Also, mentioning one change but not another one can be misleading to someone who finds the other one more important; add "and misc." to cover the other change(s). Thanks! [edit] AfD nomination of New York Anime Festival
An editor has nominated New York Anime Festival, an article on which you have worked or that you created, for deletion. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not"). Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/New York Anime Festival and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~). You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate. Thank you. Please note: This is an automatic notification by a bot. I have nothing to do with this article or the deletion nomination, and can't do anything about it. [edit] Michael Waltrip
Where are you getting that NASCAR officially has Waltrip listed at 0 points? On the "official standings" page Official Standings, it lists Waltrip as having -25 points and being 816 points behind the leader. To list him at zero points makes no sense as when he starts his second race he won't start earning points from 0, but from -25. War wizard90 05:17, 27 March 2007 (UTC)
- I looked on his webiste and it list's him at -27. MW's Official Website Please cite your sources that list him at zero points, and where NASCAR confirmed this. War wizard90 06:15, 27 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] 2007 Articles
Hello. I greatly appreciate the edits you have made to the articles. However, please refrain from working on articles that you have not been assigned to monitor. The list is at Wikipedia:WikiProject Baseball/2007 MLB team articles. This causes confusion for those who have been assigned to work on them. Ksy92003 12:50, 3 April 2007 (UTC)
- I’m sorry. I guess that I was kinda frustrated seeing that you had made a lot of edits to the other pages and didn’t bother to check to see what your edits were. I’m sorry. But just as a little notice, no matter how tempting it is for you, could you try to refrain from entering stats or other information about the season? Thanks. Ksy92003 20:35, 3 April 2007 (UTC)
- That's cool. Thank you for all of your constructive edits to the articles. Next time maybe I should actually look at the edits somebody made instead of just accusing them of doing something else. My apologies. Ksy92003 20:42, 3 April 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Hi...
I dont know why you are telling me to "leave the blurb alone." I-ME-WikiTony was the one who originally posted the blurb about the game, about 12 hours before it took place. Perhaps you should follow your own advice and "leave it alone." . Tell me, what is the problem with having a link to the school AND the sports team? IMHO this is normal wiki syntax. for example President of the United States instead of President of the United States. I do not see the problem with having the link to UF and the gators and i dont understand why this bothers you. think about it before you do something foolsh like callng me a vandal.
