User:NoSeptember/RfA maintenance

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

These are things that the normal user can do to help keep the RfA process running smoothly and to help with the record keeping.

[edit] RfAs in progress:

  1. End time - update the end time to the later of 1) the time the subpage was transcluded to WP:RFA or 2) the time the candidate accepted the nomination. (Only do this if the time stamp on the RfA is significantly different, no need to quibble about 30 minutes one way or the other)
  2. Remove RfAs from WP:RFA if they are not accepted by the nominee or if they are significantly malformed.
  3. If you find a subpage floating around that has not yet been added to WP:RFA, Do NOT add it, leave it to the nominator or the candidate to transclude the RfA at the time of their choice.

[edit] Closed RfA record keeping:

Do promptly after an RfA closes:

  1. Close out the RfA subpage properly (if a bureaucrat closed the RfA, give them 30 minutes to do this - most do it as part of their closing routine. Check to see if they have missed one or more of the steps below)
    • Add the header and footer on the closed RfA (you can copy these from another recently closed RfA).
    • Change "scheduled to end" to Ended.
    • Update the closing time and/or date if it did not end close to the scheduled time.
    • Replace the voting link URL with the word Final.
    • You can update the final tally.
  2. If it was unsuccessful, add it to the proper subpage listed on WP:RFAF
  3. If it was successful, add it to WP:RCA. Note: the bureaucrats will do this 99% of the time, but they occasionally forget (if it is 30+ minutes after the promotion, go ahead and do it for them).
  4. If it was successful, check the WP:RFAF subpage to see if the candidate had a previous unsuccessful RfA. If so, add the current one with the description: '''promoted'''.

Other pages to update at your leisure:

  1. Check the Special:Log/rights to see if any new admins have not yet been added to WP:LA and add them (some bureaucrats do this when closing an RfA, and many new admins add themselves - but many do not, so we have to catch the ones that don't get added).
  2. Unsuccessful RfAs (and successful ones that had previous unsuccessful attempts) can be added to User:NoSeptember/List of failed RfAs (Chronological).
  3. If an RfA had more than 100 support votes, it can be added to WP:100 and/or WP:200. Any with more than 100 votes of all types can be added to User:NoSeptember/RfA voting records.
  4. New admins should be removed from Wikipedia:List of non-admins with high edit counts.
  5. If a former admin has an RfA, it should be added to User:NoSeptember/Desysop whether successful or not.

Please add and improve this page to encompass all tasks that the non-bureaucrat can do to keep the RfA system run smoothly. If this page is useful to the community, it can be moved into project space.
