[edit] Featured article for December 25th

I noticed that you have listed yourself as an atheist Wikipedian. You will probably be interested to know that Brian0918 has nominated Omnipotence paradox as the front page article for December 25th. You can vote on this matter here. The other suggestion being supported by others for that date is Christmas, although Raul654 has historically been against featuring articles on the same day as their anniversary/holiday. Thanks for the tip. This article was very interesting. Nordby73

[edit] Category change on Avionics software

Hi, In fact the only change I have done in this page was adding Application software, I am not that expert in the subject. So as far as I am concerned you can do whatever change you want :) and happy new year. --Khalid hassani 00:25, 2 January 2006 (UTC)

Thanks. I reverted to previous version. Nordby73

[edit] Sandefjord

Thanks very much for the barnstar - it's much appreciated! Nice photos by the way. I'm just stuck on two points about Sandefjord: what is a tank ship - is it a Container ship or Oil tanker or a military vessel? Secondly and really nit-picking, my knowledge of Norwegian doesn’t extend to working out whether Museumsbrygga means that there is more than one museum, in which case the apostrophe on the English name next to the photo would be in the wrong place.--JBellis 10:13, 1 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] how do you do it?

[edit] Your message on Framnaes

I am travelling now and just read your messahe. Will not have much time to read over the next couple of days. Will comment soon. Cheers. --Anagnorisis 09:28, 7 February 2006 (UTC)

Finally managed to read the changes you made. I agree. They are all fine. By the way, as a result of trying to get things related to Endurance have their own article, I ended up starting a few about things or people from Norway. Perhaps you could check them and look for errors or inaccuracies. I am sure you know more about the subjects than I do. You can see a list of the different articles in my user page. Cheers. --Anagnorisis 10:14, 15 February 2006 (UTC)

Thanks again for your messages. And also for improving the articles. Please keep making changes in all those articles as you see fit. I am sure you know more about the subjects than I do -and certainly about getting the right spelling. Cheers. --Anagnorisis 00:20, 17 February 2006 (UTC)
You definetely seem to know more about Endurance than me, and thanks for all the entusiasm. I assume you are referring to spelling of Norwegian names :) --Nordby73 00:38, 17 February 2006 (UTC)
You are welcome. And thanks to you for the edit in my user page. It is interesting how trying to get one page rid of red links and make then into blue links can make one have to research new topics. For example the Sandefjord Museum -I do not even remember how I got to that one. By the way, I like all your user boxes. I may copy a few and use them in my page. Cheers. --Anagnorisis 17:57, 18 February 2006 (UTC)
I guess Lars Christensen was your "link" from Endurance to Sandefjord Museum. --Nordby73 19:11, 18 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Life-critical system

Sorry for not being straightforward with the request, since the article is far from a stub and it is not immediately obvious what - if any - expansion of the article would be desirable. You'll find my comment at the article's talk page. Regards, GregorB 21:04, 17 February 2006 (UTC)

No need to be sorry. I only pointed out missing information. You added it, and that's great! I focus on content, and how to get it better. I prefer to avoid getting personal with regards to change of content (applies for contributions from anyone, including me). --Nordby73 12:28, 18 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Photo relating to Erling Dekke Næss

Hi, I have written most of the article about Erling Dekke Næss, but have not been able to find any good pics for it. If you live in Sandefjord, do you happen to have pics of any of the whalingships he was into? Would be nice to have some pics to enhance the article. If you have, please place them on Commons, so I can use them for the Norwegian version as well. Ulflarsen 12:26, 17 March 2006 (UTC)

Great work! I tried to give you a relevant starting point on your talk page. Hope it helps. --Nordby73 22:36, 17 March 2006 (UTC)
Good, will contact them, but wonder if the pics can be released under licences we can use on Wikipedia Commons. Anyway, will try it. Thanks! Ulflarsen 08:43, 18 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Jason (Ship) Response

Hey, I'm glad you liked the article I started on the Jason. Are you from Sandefjord? My ancestors were fairly active in the Sandefjord whaling industry, which has led to my interest in the field. I plan to be adding a new article about the Norwegian Whaling Base on Stewart Island, NZ when I have the time.

I look forward to reading more of your articles, its very interesting stuff! Leviance 11:16 PST, 26 April 2006

[edit] low importance rating

First off, thank you for expresing your concern of my rating on the article DO-254. The importance rating category is generally very subjective. I willt ake another look at it. As a default, unless is is a fairly major aircraft, or a topic of extreme importance does it get high or top for the rating. Generally i throw a low rating on articles, especially about older aircraft unless they were the first or have specific defining characteristics. (personally, the rating of the article has nothing to do with its actual usefullness). I will look at it again though. I still personally feel that the importance is not that great in the scope of all the poorly written articles about major topic! (Trust me, i felt the same way the first time ,y article got a rating of low. Now, i realize that most of them, are low and I am ok with that). When it comes down to it, if feel as if the article would be better specifically involved iwth a wikiproject devoted to aviation (which currently does not exist). THanks again for your concern. Hope this helped. -- Chrislk02 (Chris Kreider) 22:33, 17 January 2007 (UTC)

I surely get your point about aviation. Did not think to much about the project name. Aircrafts and aviation related stuff is not the same. Thanks for clarifying! Nordby73 22:43, 17 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] AWB

So AWB is spelling some words wrong? Is it the spellchecker thats messed up? Or do you have some settings messed up inside of AWB, like append or prepend or replace?

Bearingbreaker92 | Talk 22:44, 17 January 2007 (UTC)

Yes. AWB is spelling Skagerak wrong (at least on the pages I watch). Nordby73 22:51, 17 January 2007 (UTC)
Ah yes I see what you are talking about. Ill see what i can do about it. Bearingbreaker92 | Talk 22:53, 17 January 2007 (UTC)
Great! Thanks. Nordby73 22:55, 17 January 2007 (UTC)
Im not too good with normal expressions, but I got this one done pretty well. Basically what I did was I reversed the replacement order. So instead of skagerak --> skagerrak, it is now skagerrak --> skagerak, which should fix any other problems being created.
But now the question is, I just noticed this, there is a river called skagerrak. I think I might just take out this line all together, seems like its causing problems.
Any more input? Bearingbreaker92 | Talk 23:08, 17 January 2007 (UTC)
Nope. Problem solved when the line is removed. Thanks again. Nordby73 23:13, 17 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] DO-178B Training

I searched on wikipedia and came across this page, and the link to the DO-254. Upon seeing lots of links in the Tools section for various software, I thought it was fair to provide a link for training information. I have since been informed that this is not a forum for marketing, which is fine, and I will not re-post. However, why are there external links for other companies? Thanks Sueneuge 23:42, 8 March 2007 (UTC)Sueneuge

This was indeed a good question. I think personally now that almost all the links in the tool section in DO-178B should be removed -but can't find a proper place to "put the useful list". The training link was a completely "new category" of link-type. It's informative and somehow relevant, yes. But probably not encyclopedic. Any suggestions? Maybe move all the tools links to the talk page? Google does not index those pages, making them less relevant for link spammers in the quest for high PageRank. Might be an idea to "read up" on wikipedia's policies regarding this (I might be "out of date" regarding this). Nordby73 22:29, 15 March 2007 (UTC)
