Talk:Northwest Haiti Christian Mission
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
I am the original author of this text, having wrote the paragraphs for the original website. Hence I do not need copyright permission to use my own text or images. I should know - I'm a law student in copyright law. Now please reup the original page, or I will be left with the conclusion that wikipedia censors christian organizations in some "secular jihad."

- Welcome to Wikipedia. The disputed page was replaced with a rather explicit explanation of the procedure for resolution. Please follow that procedure.
- If you follow the Special:Recentchanges pages for long, or go directly to the Copyright problems page, you'll see that the Wikipedia community as a matter of course removes text taken verbatim from other websites regardless of what the content is. There is no sort of vendetta against any particular group involved.
- You may want to take the time to familiarize yourself a little bit more with Wikipedia, what it is, what it is not, and what policies guide its content. Some of the more salient points you'll find at that link and on Wikipedia's policies and guidlines pages:
-
- Wikipedia is not a free wiki host. You may not host your own website or blog at Wikipedia.
- Wikipedia is not a "mirror" -- content added to WP is supposed to be released for free use under the GNU FDL with the intention of it being edited mercilessly.
- Wikipedia articles are not a vehicle for advertising and self-promotion.
- Wikipedia aritcles are not battlegrounds. ... approach the matter in an intelligent manner, and engage in polite discussion.
- Editing an article about yourself or your organization is also generally considered improper and best avoided.
- Some of my own suggestions you might consider to avoid these sorts of conflicts in the future:
-
- If you post material from elsewhere to which you have the copyright or the copyright holder's permission (assuming in light of the above that it's appropriate and/or wise), proactively note the copyright disposition in the article's talk page.
- Don't post annonymously. Use an account with a talk page so that fellow wikipedians with concerns can contact you.
- And some advice direct from the Wikipedia Etiquette page that I find particularly helpful:
-
- Assume good faith.
- Be polite.
- Concede a point.
- Be prepared to apologize.
- Forgive and forget.
- Be Civil.
- This Christian, for one, has found (while playing by the rules, by the way) that the Wikipedia community is incredibly helpful, supportive, and tolerant. I hope you will too and will continue to contribute.

[edit] POV issues
- Adding a npov tag to the page. As the material comes directly and unedited from the subject's own website, and posted by the affirmed original author of the material, the article is inherently not NPOV. Animated Cascade talk 10:52, 24 Dec 2004 (UTC)
