Talk:Norteño
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Is there any reason or use for articles on street gangs? What more could possibly be written about them? A list of members and their crimes? Falcon 00:17, Apr 22, 2004 (UTC)
If you could find a reputable source, the history and origins of the specific gang and thier reasons for the inevitable dispute with thier rival. However, as there is no official recorded history and most of what you can find out is rumor, hearsay, and legend, it's very difficult. But I think they are enough of a social phenomenon to warrant mention on the 'pedia. DryGrain 03:40, 22 Apr 2004 (UTC)
Well, I guess if people are willing to have an article on every county... Falcon 04:42, Apr 24, 2004 (UTC)
[edit] Is Norteño only Tejano?
On Sonora it says that that state, which doesn't border on Texas, is the "source" of Norteño music, and from my experience in Mexico itself a few years ago it's very much also a Mexican style, and not limited to Texas. I don't know much more, but the conflict between this page's info and that on Sonora needs resolution. Someone who knows more might want also to look through "What links here" and see where/what else is linked here and what is said on those pages about Norteño.Skookum1 06:12, 3 April 2007 (UTC)
