Football
Northwest has recently not been so successful at Football. Northwest has not had a winning season since 1997. Since then the program has went through at least 4 different head coaches. The struggling club won its last two games of 2004, and in 2005 it looked like they carried their momentum with them as they started 2-0 on the season, before suffering 8 straight losses to close out the season. The last three seasons Northwest has gone 2-8 in football

Soccer
The Lions have had plenty of success in both its girls' and boys' soccer programmes. In 2005 the Boys soccer team saw its leading senior set an all time school record for goals score, thus making it to the playoffs.

Basketball
The Lions Basketball teams are just about average. In 2005 both the boys, and girls team made it to districts, where they lost to Lafayette.

Track and Cross Country
Track and Cross Country has extraordinary talent at Northwest. This past season the school place third in state as at the same time a Varsity Sophomore runner broke the schools state sophomore record.

Wrestling
If anything the St. Louis area people know about Northwest it would be their Wrestling program. Northwest won the state title in 1984 and since then has always been a very strong state contender. Northwest placed 4th in state as at the same time one of its best wrestlers, a current Senior won the 112 pound State Championship in the 2005-2006 Wrestling season.
