Northside High School (Lafayette, Louisiana)

Northside High School is located in the Northern part of the city of Lafayette, Louisiana; hence "Northside". It has a very good athletic system, and the football team was state runner up in 2005. Also the Basketball team and Wrestling team won the 4A State Championship in 2006. Cross Country won 3rd in district in 2004. The school itself is predominantly African American. Its rival is crosstown Saint Thomas More High School, located in southern Lafayette. Although, STM will be moving up to 5A in 2007. Northside has many special courses to offer students such as, engineering, law studies, and forensics. The principal of the school is Mr. Carlton Handy.
