Northridge High School (Indiana)

Northridge High School is the only high school located in Middlebury, Indiana. In 1969, the 105,000 square foot high school was built. The school added additions in 1978, 1984, and 1988. As of 2007, Northridge High School is 280,000 square feet. The additions included a library, science labs, new office area, a swimming pool, auditorium, field house, locker rooms and training area, and a cafeteria. A new high school began construction in the spring of 2006 and is expected to be completed in the fall of 2008.

According to the website, "the mission of Northridge High School is to provide meaningful and challenging educational experiences to develop persons of character and responisbility who will confidently adapt to change in a global society." [1]

Northridge High School is a comprehensive four year school (grades 9-12) accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools. High School students may earn a diploma endorsement in a various number of ways, including Indiana Academic Honors, Academic, Business, Health Occupations, Family and Consumer Science, Industrial Technology, Technology of Vocational. There are three transition programs in which seniors can enroll in: the Elkhart Area Vocational School, dual credit at Glen Oaks College, Goshen College, Indiana University at South Bend and Ivy Tech, or a half day work experience program.
The school year is divided up into four terms and each day consists of four ninety-minute class periods. A student can earn up to 16 credits each year towards the 40 credit graduation requirement.
The enrollment for the 2006-2007 school year was approximately 1250 students. There are 64 full-time certified staff members, 56 full-time teachers, four full-time counselors, one full-time media specialist and four full-time administrators.

The curriculum consists of all required courses for Indiana high schools such as Language Arts, Science, Social Studies, Math, Science, Health, and Physical Education. There are a variety of electives including Art, Business, Music, Foreign Languages, Family and Consumer Sciences, and Technology Education.
