Northfield Stapleton
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Northfield Stapleton is an open-air, 1.2-million square-foot retail town center located at the Stapleton International Airport redevelopment in Denver, Colorado. It is owned and operated by Forest City Enterprises.
Northfield Stapleton is anchored by Macy's, SuperTarget, Circuit City, Bass Pro Shops Outdoor World and an 18-screen Harkins Theatres. Northfield also includes approximately 50 specialty shops, restaurants and retailers.[1]
In November 2006, Carson Williams was found by the Northfield Stapleton shopping mall and asked to create a new show in Denver, Colorado. Created with the help of Parker 3D, the show features over 250,000 LED lights drawing 150 amperes of electric current and uses several songs, including Wizards of Winter. "Symphony In Lights" is a free show that runs through the month of December.
[edit] Sustainability
Northfield Stapleton was named a Bronze Achiever in the Environmental Leadership Program by Colorado's Department of Public Health and Environment.[2] It was registered as a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Core and Shell Pilot Project with the United States Green Building Council (USGBC)[3] and recently named the first main street retail center in the U.S. to receive LEED-CS Silver certification.[4]
