Northbrook High School
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Northbrook High School is a secondary school in Houston, Texas. The school, which houses grades 9 through 12, is run by the Spring Branch Independent School District (SBISD). Northbrook is located inside Beltway 8 and outside the 610 Loop in Northwest Houston.
The current principal is Randolph Adami, the former principal of nearby Spring Oaks Middle School; he replaced the long-standing head, Lary Reap, in the fall of 2004. With this administration change came more stringent measures to 'ensure school safety,' including the necessity of wearing ID badges to enter the school.
Its mascot is the Ragin' Raider. The NHS colors are maroon and white.
In 2005, Northbrook earned 'Academically Acceptable' as its State Accountability Rating.
He is responsible for hiring 80+ new employees, all under 30, and 95% white. This campus is currently 95% minority.

[edit] Bomb Controversy
[citation needed]In the spring of 2005, Northbrook was featured on the local TV news due to a bomb threat made by a former student who had transferred to Spring Woods High School that very semester. The 16-year-old freshman's name was not given due to his minor status. The subject had reportedly talked to fellow students of his plan to attack Northbrook. These students then told their parents, who tipped off the Spring Branch ISD police.
A search of the boy's home turned up 6 CO2 canisters (typically used in a BB gun) and a map of Northbrook's commons area. SBISD Police Chief Chuck Brawner stated that the canisters were "in the process of being altered per instructions that the student had to turn them into explosive devices."
