North Tamworth

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

North Tamworth is a suburb of Tamworth, New South Wales, Australia, in the city's north. It is between East Tamworth and Oxley Vale. Behind North Tamworth sits the suburbs of Forest Hills, and Moore Creek. North Tamworth was once considered a less prestigious old part of Tamworth in contrast to historically old prestigious East Tamworth. However, like West Tamworth, its property market value has increased significantly over the last ten years. It is now considered a higher socio-economic suburb alongside East Tamworth and sectors of most other suburbs in Tamworth. The Tamworth Base and Correctional Centre are located in North Tamworth. The historical MunRoes mill building is also located in North Tamworth and is now the site of ongoing development of the city's first and only river front luxury apartments. Northgate shopping centre is in North Tamworth and has various shops including Bilo Supermarket.

[edit] Boundaries

Generally it is considered that North Tamworth starts on the left side of Darling Street and above the train tracks. Generally it is considered that its border finishes somewhere along Peel St before it becomes Manilla Road. However the area that is below and around the Tamworth BMX track and the North Companion's Football Club playing grounds is also considered a part of North Tamworth.
