From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The North Shore Credit Union is a large credit union based in North Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
The head office of NSCU is located at 1112 Lonsdale Avenue, North Vancouver, BC V7M 2H2.
The North Shore Credit Union is one of the larger credit unions in Canada with over 38000 members as of December, 2005 and $1.8 billion in assets under administration. This places it at #17 in the Credit Union Central of Canada (http://www.cucentral.ca/) rankings for credit unions in Canada for 2006 and is the 8th largest credit union in British Columbia.
Operating as a full service financial institution for its members, the organization has branches throughout the Lower Mainland of British Columbia and in Squamish, Whistler, and Pemberton. Its subsidiaries include United Mortgage Group, North Shore Capital Corporation, North Shore Leasing Ltd., Pacific Spirit Properties Ltd. and North Shore Insurance Services Ltd. The Credit Union has also been honoured numerous times as one of the most technologically innovative financial institutions in North America. NSCU is also designated a Caring Company by the Canadian Centre for Philanthropy and is a proud member of Canada's IMAGINE program.
One of the ways in which NCSU serves smaller communities is by placing automated banking machines (known as "automated teller machines" or "ATMs" in the United States) where a branch would not be viable. The island community of Bowen Island, is one such community.
Canadians have the largest per capita membership in credit unions, with over 10 million members (30% of the population).
