North Pole depot

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

North Pole depot is the UK depot for the Eurostar service, maintaining and storing Eurostar trains. The depot is adjacent to the Great Western Main Line between Ealing Broadway and London Paddington, on both sides of the West London Line, with which it has a connection, used for access to Waterloo.

The depot will become redundant in 2007 when the London terminus of Eurostar services moves to St Pancras railway station and maintenance is moved to a new depot at Temple Mills, near Stratford International. The depot code is NP.

The depot name has reportedly given rise to the excuse "late running service due to snow at north pole" (unable to get trains out), which has appeared on several internet sites citing excuses.
