[edit] Criticisms

The new schedule used by the school this year has angered many students and teachers alike at NMHS, because the students now have 5th, 6th, and 7th block classes everyday. This means some students could have up to six classes each day, as opposed to a five-class maximum as was the case under the previous schedule. The new schedule also eliminates "office hours", which were a half hour period in between the Early Bird (Zero Block) classes and 1st Period. Office hours were used by students to seek help from teachers, get homework, or redo tests.

This new schedule has an "early release Wednesday" every few weeks, on which there are no afternoon classes. After lunch, there is a 50-minute time period which functions much the same as office hours used to. However, these do not come often enough for some students, and have also come under fire.
