North Florida Christian School is a private school located in Tallahassee, Florida. It was founded in 1966 by Pastor Rayburn Blair. It has classes from K3 to 12th grade, and it serves students from several counties in north Florida and South Georgia. Dr. Randy Ray is now the school president, and Dr. Rick Fielding is the school administrator.
The school is in connection with North Florida Baptist Church, formally known as Temple Baptist Church. Pastor Blair founded the church in 1962 and retired in 1992. Dr. Randy Ray became pastor at that time. In 2005, the church was renamed North Florida Baptist Church.
The school is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS), the Florida Association of Christian Colleges and Schools (FACCS), and the Commission on International and Trans-Regional Accreditation (CITA).
NFCS also has a strong athletics program with football, track and field, baseball, basketball, volleyball, cross country, tennis, golf, and softball. Five state championships have been won in football, including a state-record tying four consecutive championships, and one state championship has been won in baseball. In 2006, the girl's varsity basketball team was State Runner-up, coached by Aaron Krause.
Though this school is responsible for producing all-star players such as Ernie and Marcus Sims, the academic clubs are not to standards. They do not have the normal clubs such as JCL, Mu Alpha Theta, Black History Brainbowl, Spanish Club ..etc NFC does claim to have a strong National Honor Society, but this is the only thing it has. NFC also will not let students progress forward in math, in most public schools 7th grade students are allowed to take Algebra I if they are capable of it, but at NFC this is not allowed
NFC also limits the AP Classes one can take, in public schools some students can take up to 3 AP classes in their freshman year, in NFC none.
