North East Aircraft Museum

North East Aircraft Museum is a volunteer run aviation museum in England situated on the site of the former RAF Usworth/Sunderland Airport, between Sunderland and Washington.

The museum is open all year seven days a week and has nearly all of its exhibits under cover.

Aircraft range from the deminutive Flying Flea to the mighty Avro Vulcan as well as some aircraft unique within Britain, though there are many examples spread across the world. The only F-86 D, the most numerous version of the famous Sabre fighter, the only F-84F on show (there is another on store with the RAF museum) and a former world absolute speed record holder (sadly without its wings) Mike Lithgow's Supermarine Swift F.4 prototype. It also has a Gill Air Shorts 360.

The museum relocated to Sunderland Airport in 1976 from its former home at Lambton Lion Park. The museum moved to its current location in 1984 following the closure of the airfield to build the Nissan Car Factory
