North Carolina Highway 160 is a fourteen-mile North Carolina State Highway. It runs from the South Carolina-North Carolina border to NC 49 in western Charlotte. NC 160 is best known as a back road to Charlotte/Douglas International Airport. It runs its entire length in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina

[edit] Southern terminus
S.R. Route 160 continues on at the South Carolina border. North Carolina 160 heads northwards. There is very little in this terminus, other than a crossover sign. This is near Tega Cay, SC.

NC 160 is only one mile into its existence before it crosses NC 49 for the first time. This is near Carowinds, and NC 160 is considered an excellent alternate route.
NC 160 winds its next five or six miles going through Charlotte's industrial district. The main intersection is at Westinghouse BLVD. This area is known as "Steele Creek" to many residents, and NC 160 reflects that in its name of "Steele Creek RD".
NC 160 then crosses over I-485. This is Exit 3 for I-485 and this interchange doesn't show on many maps as this is a new interchange.
A mile after crossing 485, NC 160 enters the Airport district. After entering the district, NC 160 heads eastwards onto West BLVD, leaving Steele Creek RD (now Dixie RD) to head to the greater airport. NC 160 is the only way to access, however, the Airport police, the NC Air National Guard and the Charlotte aviation museum.
One mile after leaving the airport area, NC 160 crosses over US 521 and Charlotte Highway 4.
NC 160 goes another few miles through the urban area of west Charlotte before crossing over I-77/US 21. Oddly, there is no exit here.
[edit] Eastern terminus
NC 160's eastern terminus is at NC 49 (South Tryon ST) nearly one mile southwest of downtown Charlotte. The road West BLVD continues on as East BLVD. Turning north on NC 49 will take the driver to downtown Charlotte.

- 1946-NC 160 goes from the South Carolina border to NC 49. Before that date, SC 160 was numbered as S.C. Highway 211.
- 1959-NC 160 was extended northward towards Charlotte to end at Wilknson BLVD {US 29/74). That road is now known today as Morris Field DR
- 1967- NC 160 is rerouted eastward, now going to its current terminus of Tryon St.
- 1970s-Small little "tweaks" of NC 160 occur to make way for the airport expansion. However, these were very insignifcant.
