North British Academy of Arts

The North British Academy of Arts was an art institution of Newcastle upon Tyne in northern England, extant from circa 1898 to circa 1923.

The Academy was located in the Claremount Buildings on the western side of Barras Bridge on the corner with Eldon Place in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, which is now opposite the County Council Offices. In 1914 the honorary secretary was Mr. W.J. Morgan. Fellows of the academy were entitled to append F.N.B.A. to their names.

Notable men and women were invited to become members, including:
- Sir Robert Lorimer - Scottish architect.
- James William Lowber - Anthropologist of Austin Texas, also elected a fellow and councillor in 1910.
- Georgina Bainsmith - Cornish sculptor, also elected a fellow and councillor.
- Nestor Cambier - Belgium painter and draftsman, from 1923.
- Henry Robinson Hall - Lancastrian and Yorkshire painter, from 1910.
