North American Riding for the Handicapped Association

North American Riding for the Handicapped Association (NARHA) is a non-profit organization based in Denver, Colorado that promotes the benefits of therapeutic horseback riding for people with physical, emotional and learning disabilities.

It states that equine-assisted activities for individuals with disabilities have been shown to improve muscle tone, balance, posture, coordination, motor development as well as emotional well-being.

More than 650 program centers in the United States and Canada (individual facilities such as Great Strides Therapeutic Riding, Inc. in Damascus, Maryland) offer therapeutic horseback riding programs.

NARHA is a 501(c)3 organization. It publishes a quarterly magazine, NARHA Strides.
