Norman William Kater

Hon Sir Norman Kater MLC was born in 1874. He was a medical practitioner and grazier.
Norman William Kater was the son of Hon William Edward Kater MLC. He was born into a socially prominent rual family. He was a noted shot and oarsman in his youth.
He served as a member of the New South Wales legislative council for 30 years from 1921 to 1955.
Educated at All Saint's College Bathurst and Sydney Grammar School. He read medicine at the University of Sydney
He served during first world war with the Red Cross and was appointed a Chevalier de La Legion d'Honneur.
His commercial appointments incuded directorships of Peko Wallsend Limited and Colonial Sugar Refining Company Limited.
He also served as the President of the Australian Club as his father had been.
