Norman Pinetree is a writer of rural fiction. His most beloved work is the novel Sadness on the Mountain. The novel is about a twelve-year old boy growing up on the New River in the North Carolina mountains. The book is especially popular in the South. Sadness on the Mountain has brought tears and laughter to many readers, and readers hope to have a sequel in the future. Pinetree has hinted about a sequel, but has not confirmed his true intentions.

Norman Pinetree is just a pen name. His real name is uncertain. He was born and raised in western North Carolina. When Pinetree was only six years old, his mother died of cancer. This experience helped influence the poignant emotions which are present in his writing. When Pinetree was eight, his father remarried. His stepmother never liked him. Though hard to get to know, Pinetree is known as a loyal friend to those he lets into his life. The people who are close to him get to enjoy his sense of humor and love of practical jokes. Pinetree is also a lover of nature and animals. He loves home grown fruit and vegetables, and considers mother earth a great treasure.

Pinetree was born on December 29, 1970, and he is still thought of as quite handsome with his small stature and boyish good looks. He is known as a loving father to his two children, and never misses any of their acitivities. He currently lives in western North Carolina.

Pinetree is known for his vivid portrayal of emotions and setting in his writing. Critics have called his writing "very readable" and having a great flow of words. Pinetree is a true American writer with everyday language that is understandable to the common man.
