Norman McCay is a fictional character from the DC Comics series; Kingdom Come. As Kingdom Come is an Elseworlds series McKay has not been seen in the regular DCU continuity. McKay is a priest and the witness to the Biblical events of the series.
[edit] History
McCay was the friend and pastor to the former Sandman, Wesley Dodds until he died. Dodds proclaimed an apocalyptic prophecy concerning future events involving the super-heroes.
McCay is saddened by this, and finds that he has inherited Dodds' visions. After he mistakenly drives his congregation away he is contacted by the Spectre to witness all of the events in the story as his ghostly companion.
While invisible to most he does appear once to the Justice League and attempts to tell Superman that the apocalypse will result from their actions, but Superman is confused by his appearance and refutes his warning.
At the final battle involving the Outsiders, the Justice League, and the renegade vigilantes. a Nuclear bomb is dropped by the U.N. and the Spectre asks McKay to decide who deserves God's judgement: The Humans who attempted genocide or the Superhumans who have lost touch with their humanity. McKay, recognising that the situation is more complex that simply right or wrong, sees a third path.
As Superman rages at the U.N. McKay reaches him and informing him of the few survivors and emphasising that there is no line between human and superhuman convinces Superman to choose the correct path. Is thus crucial to saving both humans and the superhumans.
