Noric Alps

The Noric Alps are a mountain range in the Eastern Alps located mostly in Austria (98% of the region is Austrian, mainly in the Carinthia and Styria states in the south-east) with a small area in Slovenia. The area covers 9811km² and stretches 97 km from the upper Mura River in the North to the Drave River in the South and 176km from the Katschberg Pass in the West to the Mura River in the East. The highest point is Eisenhut which, at 2441m is only modest in the context of the Alps, where many mountains rise above 4500m. Other notable peaks in the range are Rosennock (2440m), Zirbitzkogel (2396m) and Großer Speikkogel (2140m).
