Nord Pool

Nord Pool ASA - The Nordic Power Exchange - is the world's only multinational exchange for trading electric power. Nord Pool was established in 1993, and is owned by the two national grid companies, Statnett SF in Norway (50%) and Affärsverket Svenska Kraftnät in Sweden (50%). In 1991 the Norwegian parliament decides to deregulate the market for power trading. In 1993 Statnett Marked AS (now Nord Pool ASA) is established as an independent company. Total volume in the first operating year is 18.4 TWh, at a value of NOK 1.55 billion. Nord Pool has more than 70 employees with headquarters in Oslo and branch offices in Stockholm, Sweden in Fredericia, Denmark and Helsinki, Finland.In 2006 representative offices were opened in Amsterdam and Berlin
