[edit] Status as sound trademark

Nokia's claim to the tune may be found in the user's manual for any Nokia phone ("Nokia tune is a soundmark of Nokia Corporation."). I haven't come across any discussion of it, and since I'm no expert on copyright law I can't say whether the claim may be legitimate, but it does seem odd as Tarrega's works are in the public domain. (Aren't they? I imagine that's why they used it in the first place.) I suppose I'll write Nokia and ask. Rallette 12:38, 1 March 2006 (UTC)

Trademark law is different to copyright law. The audio is still public domain, so you can perform it, distribute, sell it etc. but it's trademark status means you can't use it to identify your company. ed g2stalk 18:21, 18 November 2006 (UTC)

The fourth note in the notation of the tune is wrong. It should be an A, not a G#
