Noble betrayal Fleeting wish (Japanese: 清き裏切り はかなき願い - Kiyoki uragiri Hakanaki negai) is episode 138 of the anime series Naruto.

[edit] Plot

Jiraiya suddenly appears and summons his frog to help rescue Naruto. Naruto quickly uses Rasengan, which causes the sound ninja he is facing to fly into a rock. Naruto charges forward, but Jiraiya tells him to stop in case there are more ninjas around. The enemies take advantage of Naruto's hesitation and manage to get away. Naruto suddenly remembers Sakura, and rushes to the door to knock. Sakura kicks the door open. Naruto asks if Sasame is okay and Sakura grudgingly tells them yes.

When they stop at a tree for a break, Jiraiya asks where they found Sasame and Sakura asks him to back off. After a few seconds, Jiraiya gets the point and protests, saying that he is only interested in adult women. Naruto nods skeptically, saying that Sakura has finally understood Jiraiya's true character. Sakura tells Jiraiya about Sasame, and how her cousin was taken away by Orochimaru. Jiraiya says that he met some of the Fuma clan ninjas when he was investigating. Naruto and Sakura are surprised that Jiraiya actually conducted a real investigation; Jiraiya says that it was nothing and that he just found them in a good-looking bar. Naruto again accuses him of only being interested in looking at and playing with ladies. Jiraiya denies this and says that Sakura, who admires him, will understand. Sakura responds by saying that she no longer admires Jiraiya. Sasame perks up upon hearing about Jiraiya's encounter with the Fuma clan and when she hears the boss's name, she declares them traitors to the Fuma clan. Sasame volunteers to guide the team to Orochimaru's hideout but when she gets hurt Sakura tells her not to push herself too hard. The group takes a lunch break because Jiraiya is hungry and says that they won't have time to eat while fighting. Jiraiya brags about how a woman at a bar made this for them because she was so attracted to him. Sasame volunteers to make some tea while they eat, but drugs their tea so that they fall asleep right after Sakura offers Sasame some food. Initially, Sasame is horrified at what she has done, but then runs to a nearby cliff and fires a flare to summon the Sound ninjas.

When the Sound ninjas arrive, Sasame doesn't get the result she expected. When Sasame asks the Sound ninja if she can see her cousin, they say that she can see him after they kill Team Jiraiya. She refuses to do this, after which the two Sound ninjas ridicule her and knock her down; suddenly, a figure catches Sasame, saving her from serious injury. The figure who catches Sasame turns out to be Naruto, who explains that Team Jiraiya saw through the paralysis drug from the start, and used a Replacement jutsu when Sasame wasn't looking. Apparently, she was only working with the Sound ninjas to get her cousin back. The Sound ninjas are members of the Fuma clan, hoping that their clan's power will be recognized by Orochimaru. Naruto is outraged by their treatment of the young girl, and uses the Uzumaki Naruto Combo on the claw-wielding ninja (Kamikiri). This instantly knocks Kamikiri hard to the ground. Jiraiya spits drugged tea into the face of the spider-using ninja (Jigumo), then nails him with Rasengan.

The third member of the Sound team (Kagero) shows up, and uses her Ephemeral Vengeance technique. Kagero instantly turns into a shell which cracks open and out of the crack emerges a beautiful girl, which leaves Team Jiraiya astounded. The girl sends a giant chakra beam at them and it appears to be a direct hit. Jiraiya protects himself and Naruto with his Summoning: Toad Mouth Bind jutsu. The girl floats in the air for several moments and then suddenly disappears. Unable to continue the attack, Kagero takes her comrades and retreats back to Orochimaru's lair (as seen in Episode 135).

Kamikiri and Jigumo beg Orochimaru and Kabuto to use their skills to save Kagero's life, since the Ephemeral Vengeance technique has drained her chakra almost to the point of death. Orochimaru asks them what they failed at. When Orochimaru contemptuously declines to save Kagero, Kamikiri and Jigumo attack him, but are easily defeated with a single swipe of a sword. Orochimaru laughs at the ninjas' demise. End of episode.
