Noble Township, Auglaize County, Ohio

Noble Township is one of fourteen townships of Auglaize County, Ohio. It is in the western part of the county and includes part of the city of Saint Marys. Noble Township contains twenty-six square miles and in 2000, it had a population of 1,439, up from 1,070 in 1990. Of those, 1,240 lived in the unincorporated part of the township, and 199 in Saint Marys.
It is crossed by the Saint Marys River and is bounded on the north by Salem Township on the west by Center Township and Jefferson Township in Mercer County on the south by Saint Marys Township; and on the east by Moulton Township. The parts of the municipality of Saint Marys remain in the township.
The township is governed by a three-member board of trustees, who are elected in November of odd-numbered years to a four-year term beginning on the following January 1. Two are elected in the year after the presidential election and one is elected in the year before it. There is also an elected township clerk, who serves a four-year term beginning on April 1 of the year after the election, which is held in November of the year before the presidential election. Vacancies in the clerkship or on the board of trustees are filled by the remaining trustees.
The majority of the township is in the Saint Marys City School District with a small western portion being in the Parkway Local School District. The entire township is served by the Saint Marys (45885) post office. The major highway in Noble Township is U.S. Route 33 which traverses the southern part of the township.
