[edit] License tagging for Image:Wordsworthrapper.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Wordsworthrapper.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 04:08, 3 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Epinions

Is this the same guy from epinions? This is pdtfromphxaz, I noticed you doin' some work on hip hop pages and shit. --PDTantisocial 09:32, 6 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] RE:

Serious, I saw you added the Mirror Music album, looks good. --PDTantisocial 01:42, 7 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Geto Boys

I was gonna add the four albums there, but I can't find credits for the first two, which are the only GB albums I ain't got. I can't find them anywhere, and I'm not even sure if they exist, because those early Rap-A-Lot albums didn't have any credits in the CD pamphlet. You got the credits? --PDTantisocial 02:36, 26 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] RE: Geto Boys

Hells yeah they are, one of the few Southern artists that are very high on my list. --PDTantisocial 06:17, 27 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Re: Song samples

I made 'em myself actually, kind of a pain in the ass because you can't upload mp3, you have to convert to .ogg. You takin' after my Enta Da Stage page? I was thinkin' of gettin' 36 Chambers to featured too cuz that's my favorite album. I'll put some samples up tonight, I'm thinkin' "Protect Ya Neck", "C.R.E.A.M.", "Method Man" and "Wu-Tang Clan Ain't Nuthin' to Fuck Wit". --PDTantisocial 03:22, 2 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] RE: Enter the Wu-Tang

I think there's a criteria list on the Featured Articles page, but the only albums (not hip hop albums, albums in general) that have become featured are Illmatic and Enta Da Stage, so I just say add whatever there is to be said about it. I think the judges were a little easier on my Enta Da Stage page, because that made it without much pain at all, they're being assholes about Bizarre Ride. You got it goin' good, my suggestion is just to make sure all the sources are good and the formatting is perfect, that's the main thing they always bitch about. --PDTantisocial 04:04, 15 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] RE: Enter the Wu-Tang

And be careful with the fair use images, they been bitchin' about that too. Good work though, whenever you put it up for nomination I'll throw my support on there. --PDTantisocial 04:07, 15 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] RE: Enter the Wu-Tang

Do you have the Wu-Tang Manual? There's definitely some good shit in there about the origins of the Clan and the early sessions and all that. RZA was talkin' about how him and Ghost were the only ones who would pay the $50 for the studio, so that's why the first joint recorded as the Clan "Tearz" was only him and Ghost, then they finally got everybody to pay and then recorded "Protect ya Neck", etc. --PDTantisocial 03:22, 16 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] RE: Enter the Wu-Tang

I'll try to type up some related sections and message them over to you so you can put 'em up on there. All you gotta do is go to the Bizarre Ride page and copy the citations section for the book reference. --PDTantisocial 05:43, 17 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Re:Enter the wu-tang

User:ONUnicorn and User:Indon. Also I think User:$yD! did it volunteerly. I supported the article after it was closed and left a little note at it's last fac so let me know when you renominate it. Good luck. - Tutmosis 19:11, 28 December 2006 (UTC)

I can help with citation style and some formatting issues. I can't help with the prose as I also have problems with it. — Indon (reply) — 19:23, 28 December 2006 (UTC)
Also I would suggest you ask User:Gzkn. Seems to be quite familiar with the english language. - Tutmosis 20:46, 28 December 2006 (UTC)
Lastly in case your never came across this wikiproject (neither have I) you can ask for a copyedit at Wikipedia:WikiProject League of Copyeditors. - Tutmosis 17:34, 29 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Enter the Wu-Tang copy edit request

Hello. I looked over Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers) and re-phrased some things, made a few changes. A few additional questions I had;

  • In the background section, the first block quote under "Conception" says something about A&R. What's A&R? I'd fix it myself but I don't know.
  • Everything from the track listing on is basically a lot of lists and charts. I wouldn't be suprised if when you re-nominate it for featured article you got some opposes based on it being too list-heavy. A lot of what's mentioned in the Accolades chart is already mentioned in the article so you might want to think twice about that particular section. Also, shouldn't the personnel list be in the infobox? I think the track listing and album positions are good. The singles information I could take or leave.
  • Overall I'm impressed; I haven't seen too many album articles that were more than stubs consisting of 1-2 sentences and a track listing. However, towards the end the article does seem a bit slow. I'm not sure how to help with it.

It's a pretty good article right now. I still think it needs a little more work before you re-nominate it for featured. ~ ONUnicorn(Talk|Contribs) 21:20, 28 December 2006 (UTC)

No problem, I'll have a look, althought it was pointed out to me that my copyediting is far from FA-level. I'll try to point some real good copyeditors soon.--SidiLemine 09:21, 2 January 2007 (UTC)
I'll try to get around to a copy-edit today. If you start getting objections to the candidacy because of prose issues, maybe give Wikipedia:WikiProject League of Copyeditors a try. We have a section dedicated to FACs/FARs. Gzkn 00:46, 3 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Punctuation formatting

A note on your edit to the Gorillaz article. For the song titles, moving the "quotation marks" to after the commas and full stops is incorrect. The way they were before is the correct way. That is, "Feel Good Inc.", "DARE",... instead of "Feel Good Inc.," "DARE,". The best reference I could find for this is here. I notice that this also happens on other pages you're editing, and that it should be changed. - kollision 04:13, 7 January 2007 (UTC)

I think that might be because you're reading your American grammar book instead of Wikipedia's grammar book which is a mix of American and British. See WP:MOS#Quotation marks "When punctuating quoted passages, include the punctuation mark inside the quotation marks only if the sense of the punctuation mark is part of the quotation." And other references: here, here, and here. - kollision 05:15, 7 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] 36 Chambers

I've created a few more paragraphs in the introduction. I've been meaning to read Wikipedia's manual of style since forever, but I strongly believe in making paragraphs fairly short and even for the sake of the reader's eyes and attention span. When I read the manual of style, I'll work on it more. What is the timeframe on this? Reply on my talk page please. Nina Odell 22:25, 7 January 2007 (UTC)

Who's calling it bloggy, because I don't know what that means at all. It doesn't look bloggy to me as I am interpreting the phrase. Let me talk directly to the critics, and see what their feedback is, or give me the link to the review. Respond at the bottom of my talk page, please. Thanks. Nina Odell 13:53, 8 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Edit Summary Request

I have noted that you edit without an edit summary. Please do your best to always fill in the summary field. This is considered an important guideline in Wikipedia. Even a short summary is better than no summary. An edit summary is even more important if you delete any text; otherwise, people may think you're being sneaky or even vandalizing. Also, mentioning one change but not another one can be misleading to someone who finds the other one more important; add "and misc." to cover the other change(s). Thanks! -- Kukini 23:50, 8 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Re: Copyedit for Enter the Wu Tang

Hi, I'm a member of the League of Copyeditors and am currently working on copyediting this article. You all did a great job, but I have a question:

  • In the Lyrical Content section: "While the content of lyrics on Enter the Wu-Tang generally varies from rapper to rapper, the basic themes are the same: urban life, martial arts movies, and marijuana, set in the harsh climate of New York City." This is an unclear sentence.
  • First, is the meteorological climate of New York the issue, or is "environment" a better word?
  • The setting of New York City appears to only apply to the marijuana in the current sentence. Would it be more accurate to say,

"While the lyrical content on Enter the Wu-Tang generally varies from rapper to rapper, the basic themes are the same: the harsh environment of New York City as a setting for urban life, martial arts movies, and marijuana use."

Or is this more accurate?

"While the lyrical content on Enter the Wu-Tang generally varies from rapper to rapper, the basic themes—all set in relation to the harsh environment of New York City—are the same: urban life, martial arts movies, and marijuana."

I posted this on the article's discussion page as well, but noticed that you've made some edits to the article without addressing this one, so I thought I'd send you a message, too. :o) Please let me know when you've made this edit, so I can call this one "done". Thanks! Galena11 16:49, 10 January 2007 (UTC)

  • Thanks for the clarification. I've made the changes and will ask another League member to proofread. Thanks! Galena11 23:25, 10 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Request for edit summary

When editing an article on Wikipedia there is a small field labeled "Edit summary" under the main edit-box. It looks like this:

Edit summary text box

The text written here will appear on the Recent changes page, in the page revision history, on the diff page, and in the watchlists of users who are watching that article. See m:Help:Edit summary for full information on this feature.

Filling in the edit summary field greatly helps your fellow contributors in understanding what you changed, so please always fill in the edit summary field, especially for big edits or when you are making subtle but important changes, like changing dates or numbers. Thank you. – Oleg Alexandrov (talk) 03:01, 19 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Image:Scottstorch.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Scottstorch.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Mosmof 06:39, 24 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] God's Son

Just wanted to make sure you're aware that someone sumbitted it to FAC. SandyGeorgia (Talk) 16:36, 18 March 2007 (UTC)

Hello's Noah. I first must commend you for nearly single-handedly enhancing the God's Son Article. I was serverely impressed when I finished reading it and I felt that I deserved to grace the front page of Wikipedia. I must apologize for first not checking with you and your completion, but I couldn't wait, I had to nominate it. Once again great work, Nas is one of my favorite rappers (as are the Wu and Ghostface ironically, nice job on 36 Chambers as well). I hope it passes and get's FA status.
