"No Friend of Mine" (also known as "Gangsta") is a song by up-and-coming rapper, Tempamental, that features Michael Jackson and Pras from The Fugees. The song first surfaced on the web in late 2006 on Tempamental's MySpace page with Tempamental providing all the song's rap verses and Michael singing an incomplete lyric in his solo section of the song. In early 2007, hip-hop magazine, The Source, uploaded a new version of the song to their website, including a polished production, new and fully-formed lyrics, and the addition of Pras.
In mid-February, Pras contacted a Michael Jackson fanclub, thanking them for the support and revealing details about how he became involved in the song. Pras said he received a call from Tempamental about a track he was working on and asked him to come into the studio. Pras heard the track and laid down his own vocals. [1] No details have been revealed about how Michael Jackson had become involved in the recording.
Although the track is yet to be officially released, it has been getting airplay on some radio stations, including BBC radio and Radio1 (UK), 98.7 KissFM (NY, USA), and Radio 538 and 3FM (Holland). It has also been getting some worldwide press coverage, boosting the popularity of Tempamental's myspace page, where the track received over 100,000 plays in five days. [3] "No Friend of Mine" has also generated over 90,000 views of fan-made videos for the song on YouTube. [4]
