"A Clue: No" is the thirteenth episode of the 2006 Robin Hood television series, made by Tiger Aspect Productions for BBC One. It aired on Saturday December 30, 2006. Its title quotes a line from the episode, spoken twice by the Sheriff and then finally (during the denouement) by Robin. It is the second part of the first series's only two-parter, and the end of the first series.

[edit] Plot
The pre-credits sequence reprises the final scenes of the previous episode, with Marian's death and the Sheriff arriving to taunt Robin.
Little John, Much and Djaq prepare to meet the Sheriff and Gisborne's forces, but the fight only commences when Robin begins brutally shooting down the enemy soldiers. In the face of Robin's enraged fighting and the unexpected return of Alan-a-Dale and Will, Gisborne orders retreat, stopping only to have Pitt the physician killed. The outlaws then return to the cave and begin making preperations to bury Marian - Robin admits to the gang that he loved her - when Alan notices that she's breathing. When Marian regains consciousness Djaq realises that Pitt had tried to poison her with hemlock, not realising that she might survive.
The outlaws return Marian to Knighton Hall just before Gisborne arrives to see her. Once Sir Edward managed to satisfy Gisborne that Marian is ill, he asks Robin to help him and the other nobles to protect King Richard when he comes to Nottingham on the Saturday. Robin refuses because he wants to stop Marian's wedding. Meanwhile, back at Nottingham Castle, the Sheriff confesses part of his scheme to Gisborne; the king coming to Nottingham in really an imposter, who will help draw the rebellious nobles out of hiding to be eliminated.
After going to see Marian, who is resigned to marrying Gisborne, Robin continues refusing to help Edward, going so far as to insult Much so that he will leave. The outlaws, sans Robin, meet with the nobles in secret to discuss how they will protect the King from what the assume will be an assassination attempt by the Sheriff. When Saturday comes, Marian takes leave of Edward and goes to the wedding at Locksley Hall alone, meeting an enthusiastic Guy, while the outlaws and the people of Nottingham wait for the King to arrive. At the last minute Much decides to leave and find Robin and encounters the King's retinute, only to realise that the 'King' is an imposter. When the 'King' arrives at Nottingham he has the Sheriff arrested and declares that "French evidence" will be given; one by one the nobles will go to a certain room if they wish to testify against the Sheriff. The first noble goes to the room for testifying and tells the clerk his intentions, only for the clerk to reveal himself as the Sheriff and kill the noble.
Just as Marian's wedding is underway Much arrives and yells for all to hear that the King is an imposter - Robin, who has been leaving Nottingham Shire for good, hears the yelling. Much also declares Gisborne a traitor for trying to kill the real King. Gisborne doesn't deny the accusations when Marian asks him, but claims that he will be a better person for the marriage. Marian takes Gisborne's wedding ring and uses it as a knuckleduster when she punches him. She runs out of the chapel and meets Robin, riding to her rescue, and they leave for Nottingham to save Edward.
As Edward prepares to declare his intentions, Robin, Marian and Much arrive at the castle and split up to enter (but not before Robin and Marian exchange a kiss). When the "clerk" asks Edward if he wishes to testify against the Sheriff, Robin arrives, pins the Sheriff down with arrows and replies "a clue: no". With Edward safe, Much rallies the outlaws against the imposter King and they try to make their escape, only for the Sheriff to threaten Much at knifepoint. With some fancy archery Robin saves Much, subdues the Sheriff and the outlaws make their escape...
[edit] Open plotlines
Though there was no major end-of-series cliffhanger per se, some major plotlines are left open for a second series:
- Guy's attempt to kill the king - it appeared he was likely to be brought to justice in this episode, but this did not occur and the only evidence of the plot (the physician) was lost.
- Marian - it was not indicated what her standing within the Nottingham nobility will be now that she's left Gisborne at the altar, however since Gisborne will no longer protect her from the Sheriff's reprisals, and he presumabely knows that she left the wedding in the company of Robin Hood, it is likely she will be forced into becoming an outlaw along with Robin and the gang.
- The return of the real King Richard.
