No. 93 Squadron RAAF

No. 93 Squadron was a Royal Australian Air Force ground attack squadron of World War II. The Squadron was formed in January 1945 and was disbanded in August 1946.
No. 93 Squadron was formed at Kingaroy, Queensland on 22 January 1945. Equipped with Bristol Beaufighter aircraft the Squadron completed its training in April and began preparations to deploy to Borneo as part of the Borneo Campaign. Due to delays in preparing airfields in Borneo the Squadron's departure was delayed and it did not fly its first combat missions from Labuan until 26 July. The Squadron continued to fly ground attack missions over Borneo until the end of the war in August.
Following the end of the war No. 93 Squadron was primarily used to provide navigation support to single engined fighter aircraft returning to Australia. In early 1946 the Squadron also provided navigation support to RAAF fighter aircraft deploying to Japan to form part of the British Commonwealth Occupation Force. No. 93 Squadron returned to Australia in January 1946 and was disbanded at Narromine, New South Wales on 22 August 1946.
