[edit] License tagging for Image:MeredithMonk.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:MeredithMonk.jpg. Wikipedia gets hundreds of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 07:06, 30 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Game$how Marathon

If you did not not know, TV show articles on Wikipedia do not censor/withhold episode summaries "to spoil the outcomes for episodes until it has aired in all time zones", "the summary will be posted as 12:01 am", or similar messages. Since this is a wiki, you have to let other users edit this page who may wish to. If we did have such a policy or guideline, there would have a major fuss over on other popular shows such as American Idol or 24 (TV series). Thanks. Zzyzx11 (Talk) 04:25, 1 June 2006 (UTC)

  • I did not realize that. Thanks for the heads-up. Still, it usually takes me that long to properly recap the episode anyway (at least, it did for TPIR), so in my case, anyway, I'll hold to the self-inflicted deadline. If anyone ELSE posts an evening's summary before I do, so be it. njr75003 04:29, 1 June 2006 (UTC)
    • If you feel you want to wait until after 12am, be my guest. As I mentioned, whenever an episode of a popular show such as American Idol or 24 ends on the East coast, some of those rabid fans start adding in the summaries to the articles. That is why templates like {{in-progress tvshow}} and {{spoiler}} were created. Cheers. Zzyzx11 (Talk) 04:39, 1 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Your Edit to Magical objects in Harry Potter

Welcome, and thank you for correcting spelling on Wikipedia! However, both spellings of the word you "corrected" are acceptable.

Please familiarize yourself with American and British English spelling differences before making further spelling corrections to articles. Wikipedia has 3,994,109 registered users on this English Wikipedia. These editors use different versions of English including American English and British English. The list of dialects of the English language goes on and on.

When many styles are acceptable, avoid changing from one style to another unless there is some substantial reason for the change. It is acceptable to change from American spelling to British spelling only if the article concerns a British topic or vice versa or if you are making the article internally consistent.

More information is available at Wikipedia's Manual of Style. Enjoy your time on our encyclopædia/encyclopedia. Thank you.

[edit] Orphaned fair use image (Image:MonopolyMegaEditionElements.gif)

Thanks for uploading Image:MonopolyMegaEditionElements.gif. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you.
