Niuafo'ou language

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Niuafoʻouan is the language spoken on Tonga's northernmost island Niuafoʻou. Although, due to the fact that it is part of Tonga, currently all inhabitants speak Tongan as well, Niuafoʻouan is different enough to be counted as a language on itself with clear similarities towards ʻUvean and Tokelauan.

The current languages on the neighbouring islands of Niuatoputapu and Tafahi are less deviant from Tongan and can be considered as dialects only.
