Hey there! I'm Nishkid64, an Indian-American administrator on Wikipedia. I was originally born in Hyderabad, India, but moved to the United States when I was 3 months of age, and I have lived here ever since.
- Why I'm here
I first encountered Wikipedia on the web when I was doing some research for a history project. I felt that it was a highly reputable source since the encyclopedia took many different points of view into consideration. I have stayed with Wikipedia since, and I made my first contributions earlier in 2006.
I really like Wikipedia because it's a place where I can make contributions to society, make new friends, and have FUN! Image:Crystal 128 ksmiletris.png
- Interests
I am your basic philomath. I practice a belief that if it is out there, it is your goal to learn/know about it. I enjoy reading and learning about the world from the perspectives of others. I think it builds my character, and helps me help others. Some particular topics of interest include epistemology, molecular biology, macroeconomics, politics, ancient history, astronomy, classic literature, etc.
- What have I been doing lately?
Good question. I have gotten myself involved with DYK section of Wikipedia, and I have been updating the section for the Main Page. I also have over a dozen DYK's made lately on baseball players and New Jersey and California politicians. I recently brought Portal:Business and Economics and Portal:Disasters to featured portal status. Thanks to everyone who gave me tips/suggestions for those two portals! Like always, I continue to participate at WP:RfA and I'm frequently protecting requests at WP:RFPP. I'm usually on for a while every day, so just contact me if you need help, and I'll be there in a flash.
