- June 5, 1925: Station begins operation as Nishi-Shiogama Station. (西塩釜駅)
- May 1, 1944: Station changes name to Nishi-Shiogama Station. (西竈釜駅)
- May 25, 1963: Station changes name back to Nishi-Shiogama Station. (西塩釜駅)
- March 1, 2005: Due to declining window purchases, the station is automated.
