Nirmal is located at 19.1° N 78.35° E.[1] It has an average elevation of 340 metres (1115 feet).

As of 2001 India census,GRIndia Nirmal had a population of 75,017. Males constitute 50% of the population and females 50%. Nirmal has an average literacy rate of 65%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 74%, and female literacy is 56%. In Nirmal, 14% of the population is under 6 years of age.

This art form named after its place of origin, Nirmal in Adilabad district of Andhra Pradesh.
