[edit] Jimmy Wales

It seems unnecessary to tag with {{Wikipedian-bio}}, because anyone with the slightest info about him will already know his affiliation with Wikipedia, making the template message redundant. It takes up a lot of space at the top of the page too. I don't really care if you want to put it back though. - Stoph 02:38, 21 December 2005 (UTC)

[edit] I have my reasons

15 minutes ago I was prepared and able to go throught my life (Here @least) without needing to "watch pages", so it sortof stands to reason I can continue to do so. 68.39.174.238 03:21, 6 January 2006 (UTC)

I have my nomenclature of reversion summaries that I find more explanatory then the generic Administrator reversion message. Also, while my IP is tolerably static, it's not totally statick, so registering a name based on the IP whould eventually lead to some interesting CheckUsr listings. 68.39.174.238 22:28, 6 January 2006 (UTC)
I have a few reasons, some more logical then others. BTW thanx for fixing my template-grammar ;D! 68.39.174.238 14:52, 7 January 2006 (UTC)
Easier said then done as I don't have an Email addr 68.39.174.238 07:03, 8 January 2006 (UTC) PS. Thanx though :D
That still assumes that I want [that/an] account. 68.39.174.238 21:56, 12 January 2006 (UTC)
Be careful about confusion if you do 68.39.174.238 19:37, 14 January 2006 (UTC)
I can't block people with just an account... 68.39.174.238 19:41, 14 January 2006 (UTC)
Some people (with highly suspiscious names) seem to think otherwise. 68.39.174.238 19:53, 14 January 2006 (UTC)
  • That's just one person, as far as I can tell...and I'm not even sure whether or not he was serious. I'm still sure that you would be nominated for admin within 24 hours if you were to sign up, I have had several people say that.Image:Weather rain.pngSoothingR 21:10, 17 January 2006 (UTC)
Just noticed this and I was just joking. CambridgeBayWeather (Talk) 21:48, 25 February 2006 (UTC)
Since it's already been registered I can see no use for it by me. You can use it as you wish so long as it doesn't end up directly causing me problems in a forseeable and avoidable way not precluding directly currently envisioned and intended, as well as most possible known current and possible forseeable (and probably unforseeable) uses of it. 68.39.174.238 12:17, 26 February 2006 (UTC)
Crap... Too bad you can't get them to just delete it. That would solve this all... 68.39.174.238 12:27, 26 February 2006 (UTC)
OK..>. 68.39.174.238 12:59, 26 February 2006 (UTC)
I did something with it, however I can't be sure someone else didn't... 68.39.174.238 11:38, 28 February 2006 (UTC)
I'm pretty sure that was me. 68.39.174.238 20:32, 28 February 2006 (UTC)
Somewhat ironic, since you made that edit while logged out yourself ;D! 68.39.174.238 13:56, 2 March 2006 (UTC)
What do you have so much for logging in that my making one edit logged in, regardless of my edits future to that, is as good as any use of it? 68.39.174.238 18:28, 2 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Mandelbrot

All the Mandelbrot images I've done I've made with my own programs, I'm afraid, nothing available to the public. The code's a mess and there's a total lack of anything resembling a user interface, but if this doesn't deter you I could probably dig up some source code if you really want? Evercat 10:41, 5 April 2006 (UTC)

By the way, do you happen to have the Simple DirectMedia Layer installed on your machine? It would help if I could give you the SDL version, since it's at least somewhat better than the original version of the program... Evercat 12:59, 5 April 2006 (UTC)

OK, I've compressed the program a bit and put it at User:Nippoo/Mandelbrot.c. This one doesn't require SDL, it has no display, it just spits out a file after a while (about 3 minutes on my 3ghz machine...). The colours aren't quire the same as the Wikipedia image, but it's fairly close and you can mess with the settings a bit. Hope it's of some use...

The basic idea is that only points which aren't in the Mandelbrot set get coloured - we know they're not in the set because the value of the equations starts to escape to infinity. We choose different colours depending on how long it takes before it's clear this is happening... Evercat 22:48, 5 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Supposed vandalism

I am moving names in different categories rather than deleting them. First read, then start to accuse others is the more advisable course of action.--81.58.29.92 12:21, 6 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Moses Brown

Hi, I am trying to create two(2) pages, one for the man and one for the school. Can you advise if I shouldn't do this, or do it differently, or if I should just go drink a beer instead :) ThanksTom 21:36, 7 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Heat sink

Hi, I removed the link you added because most of its content is purely speculative (the ideas haven't been tried actually), and worse, wrong. For example, bonding fins with glue is completely useless, as it reduces dramatically the thermal conductivity of the aluminium or copper. The only actual content of this page is in the first message, where people talk about casting aluminium, but it is not specifically related to heatsinks, and not detailed or notable enough to be linked from casting. [edit] Nitroglycerin

Recently, the nitroglycerin synthesis information was removed from the Nitroglycerin article according to this official policy (see nr. 8). As discussed on the Talk:Nitroglycerin I was looking for a page to link to with the synthesis information. I don't suppose you have any good hints? --Swift 07:05, 28 July 2006 (UTC)

[The following comment by Nippoo was copied from User_talk:Swift#Nitroglycerin.]
I have an edited, cleaned-up version of nitroglycerin synthesis instructions at User:Nippoo/Chemistry#Nitroglycerine which you're welcome (read:encouraged) to put on Wikibooks if you want. Nippoo 10:23, 28 July 2006 (UTC)
Done. See Chemical synthesis. I also added the other synthesis information from your page. You might want to replace the instructions with links to the wikibook to reduce redundancy and concentrate efforts. Thanks for the content! --Swift 21:38, 28 July 2006 (UTC)
[The following comment by Nippoo was copied from User_talk:Swift#Nitroglycerin.]
Great. I intend to keep the version on my page for a little while at least (though I'll probably remove it sometime soon, after I've cleaned up the versions on Wikibooks first). I've also removed the link to the page on 'Gallium synthesis' from Wikibooks (it's not really chemical synthesis, just basic crystal growth instructions, but by all means put it up somewhere else - I've left the actual page up if you want to move it). Otherwise, good work - keep it up! ;) Nippoo 21:38, 15 August 2006 (UTC)
Thanks for helping out with the Wikibook.
What do you think would be a good place for the Gallium page? Could the scope of the Chemical synthesis book be broadened a bit to accomodate such pages or would it be better to create a new one? In tha case of the latter, do you have a recommendation? --Swift 23:52, 16 August 2006 (UTC)
