Talk:Nimzo-Indian Defence
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
I was just thinking it would be nice to illustrate chess openings with some animated gifs. Mintguy 14:34, 26 Oct 2003 (UTC)
- Well, I'm not sure about animated (I think I'd find that a bit irritating), but I'm going to upload a static png to be going on with. --Camembert
Don't you think this article should be under "Nimzo-Indian Defense" or "Nimzo-Indian Defence" instead of just "Nimzo-Indian"? People refer to it colloquially as "Nimzo-Indian," of course, but we ought to use the proper name in an encyclopedia. Krakatoa 15:03, 25 July 2005 (UTC)
I agree with you, Krakatoa. Also I think 4.Bd2 should be mentioned here. (Aksuvari 08:45, 18 December 2006 (UTC))
[edit] 4.Bd2
Although not a paritcularly good move, 4.Bd2 breaks the pin on the knight. It is played by only about 0.5% of games at the highest levels, but on a databae of players around 1400 I have, it is one of the most common moves (in fact, I believe it may be the most common, but would need to check this). I will add an entry for this soon. I see someone else (Krakatoa) think the same.
