[edit] Sixteen Candles

To the person who questions whether any part of Sixteen Candles was filmed at Niles North, please see the following information found on http://www.fast-rewind.com/sixteencandles.htm about the filming locations:

The exterior school scenes were filmed at the former Niles East High School in Skokie, Illinois (now Oakton Community College) on Niles Center Road 1/2 block north of Howard Street. The school was closed down well before the movie began filming, and was eventually torn down.
The gym interiors, school lunch line scene and cafeteria scenes were filmed inside Niles North High School, also in Skokie. I know this for a fact because I graduated from there in 1985. [Thanks to She]
Some exterior school shots in the opening scenes of the movie were shot at New Trier High School (then known as New Trier East High School) in Winnetka, IL

I freely admit that the source is not of the highest level of reliability. If you have information to the contrary, please cite it. Crypticfirefly 03:33, 16 February 2006 (UTC)

Followup: I took the step of emailing the Principal at Niles North and was able to confirm that filming for Sixteen Candles did take place at the school. Please see the details on the discussion page for the Sixteen Candles article. Crypticfirefly 05:27, 3 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] A section about school pranks?

New Trier has one, why not make one for Niles North? It can make articles about high school more unique. There is one problem, finding out what pranks took place. The school pranks I know of was the one about the school being on eBay and the most recent one involving crickets being let loose. This seems like a good idea. Anyone in? Loompyloompy313 01:22, 14 May 2006 (UTC)

  • I have no opinion. Some time ago I added the info about the eBay listing as follows:
In 2004, the school made front page news in the Chicago Tribune when one of the students tried to auction it off on eBay as a senior prank. (Source: Chicago Tribune, June 9, 2004. p. 1.)
But "64.198.225.60" later edited it out this past April for reasons unknown. Crypticfirefly 03:13, 15 May 2006 (UTC)
  • There is a few problems to this, finding out what pranks happened there and who can verifiy it. It would be very hard to do. I think i can do it, somehow. Also on a random fact, the IP 64.198.225.60 is from IL also.Loompyloompy313 00:54, 16 May 2006 (UTC)
  • One would imagine that front-page news in the Tribune would verify that the prank actually occurred. Crypticfirefly 04:26, 10 August 2006 (UTC)
  • I removed some of the "news" stuff... Im not sure anyone knows or cares about the 1600 hallway. Added some citation requests, too. Metao 00:20, 17 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Photos

We need a photo of both schools. Since i go to Niles North, I can take a photo of it. Niles West, not so sure. Loompyloompy313 19:36, 28 May 2006 (UTC)

Take it off their websites?

Well, yes I could get them off the site, but I want one of the building. You could do a google image search for it, but the quality of it is not that good. I do have a cameraphone photo Niles North camera photo. Loompyloompy313 16:24, 14 June 2006 (UTC)
