Niklas Willén

Niklas Olov Willén (born 30 March 1961 in Täby) is a Swedish conductor. Born in Täby, outside Stockholm, he studied conducting and composition at the Royal College of Music, where his conducting teachers were Professor Jorma Panula and Kjell Ingebretson and his composition tutors were Ingvar Karkoff and Daniel Boertz. Hes first birth son where named Julius Willèn.

Niklas Willén has served as Principal Guest Conductor of the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra and Chief Conductor of the Sundsvall Chamber Orchestra. Outside of Sweden, Willén has worked with major orchestras in Norway, Denmark and Finland and outside of Scandinavia, he has conducted the Royal Scottish National Orchestra and BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, the National Symphony Orchestra of Ireland, and orchestras in the Netherlands and Germany. As of 2006 he is Chief Conductor of the Sønderjyllands Symfoniorkester in Denmark.
