[edit] Female Night Elves are taller or shorter?

"with the women having a similar build, although they appear shorter than their male counterparts in World of Warcraft " Then why does the female appears taller in the example pic?

Because the shot is zoomed in more. -Disko

[edit] Suggestions to split

Anyone else think this article should be split with a whole article on Night elves in general and another one on Night Elves from Warcraft lore. People looking up general stuff on Night Elves shouldnt have to be bogged down with Warcraft Night Elf backstory. I suggest the Night Elf warcraft article be titled, Night elves (Warcraft) as per Orc (Warcraft), Ogres (Warcraft) and Trolls (Warcraft). I understand that their is much on Night Elves outside of Warcraft on this article, but the included D&D stuff on this article is quote jarring. - UnlimitedAccess 19:33, 28 August 2005 (UTC)

I'm not sure if a split here makes sense. The Warcraft-related articles that you site are independent articles because "Orc", "Ogre" and "Troll" are all millenia-old beings that exist in the mythologies of many cultures. For this reason, when one says these terms, any reference to races from games is uncertain at best. This isn't really true of Night Elves, which really are creations of the games cited in this article, or very nearly so. A better comparison might be with Dark Elves, another race that appears in a great many games - far more than the two related here - and also in centuries-old mythology...yet there is no disambiguation needed for that term; the article explains it all, and does so very well. I would love for you to provide evidence that Orcs are millenia-old beings in the mythologies of many cultures
Well im a little skeptical that Night Elves only appear in Warcraft and D&D, but I cant think of an example to the contrary so I am happy for now and wont push this to be turned into a disambig page with only two entries ;). However in the article their is nothing to say about the Night Elfs from D&D except they exist, so I will just move it at the top as a see also, if no one ever creates an article on them its no loss, and if someone decides to do a full article on them, then Wiki just becomes better. - UnlimitedAccess
Now I have pulled out all the information and just included it at the top. As; See Night Elves (D&D) for the fictional race from Mystara in the Dungeons & Dragons role-playing game. It's neater this way and we havnt lost any content, and it doesn't matter whether a D&D article is created or not. - UnlimitedAccess

I'm actually with UnlimitedAccess, a split does sound more logical. And we should do so on all things warcraft. Have it end with (Warcraft). Even though it's not age old, I do feel that Warcraft Night Elves deserve their "own" article so to speak. Havok (T/C) 08:58, 30 August 2005 (UTC)

I fully think that this entry should end in (Warcraft) along with many of the other entries for the WoW races here. World of Warcraft was not the first to use night elves, so they shouldn't get the "main" page about them. Plus it adds for consistency if all the Warcraft races end in (Warcraft)

[edit] Night Elves Descended from Trolls?

I am no expert on Warcraft lore, but as I understand it, there are some tantalizing hints in World of Warcraft that suggest that night elves might be descended from trolls. They are awfully similar in appearance, after all. Does anyone know details about this little rumor? If so, perhaps something of this could be mentioned in the article. [edit] Minor Edit

I just did a minor edit. Some jerk put in two badly spelled sentences after the first history paragraph that had nothing to do with the subject. Essentially spam.

just wondering who writes theese bullshit multiplayer rants on how weak nightelves are or how strong udnead are. alot of it is pure bullshit and clearly biased...
