Night of the proms

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Night of the Proms is a series of concerts held yearly in the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, France and Spain. The concerts consist of a combination of pop music and popular classical music (often combined) and various well-known musicians and groups usually participate. As an example, the 2006 Antwerp edition (the programme is usually slightly different in each country) featured (among others) Ike Turner, John Miles, Tears for Fears and Texas, as well as renditions of Largo al Factotum (Rossini), the Prelude of Carmen (Bizet), Pictures at an Exhibition (Mussorgsky) and the Raiders March (John Williams) from the film Raiders of the Lost Ark.

Not to be confused with the Last Night of the Proms, which is the last concert of the BBC Proms, a series of seventy or so classical concerts held yearly in the Royal Albert Hall in London.
