The Nigerien Party for Democracy and Socialism (French: Parti Nigerien pour la Democratie et le Socialisme-Tarayya) is a political party in Niger. At the presidential elections of 16 November and 4 December 2004 its candidate, Mahamadou Issoufou won 24.6 % of the vote and in the second round lost with 34.5%. At the legislative elections, 4 December 2004, the party won 13.4 % of the popular vote and 17 out of 113 seats. 8 additional seats were won by alliances of the PNDS with the Nigerien Progressive Party-African Democratic Rally, the Nigerien Self-Management Party, the Union of Independent Nigeriens and the Union for Democracy and the Republic.
