Nieuweschans

Nieuweschans (population as of 2001: 1570) is a town in the Dutch province of Groningen. It is located in the municipality of Beerta, about 12 km east of Winschoten. Close to the town is the easternmost point of the Netherlands.

Nieuweschans is a small town surrounded by large fortifications built in the Eighty Years' War, located on the Dutch-German border.

Nieuweschans was a separate municipality until 1990, when it became a part of Beerta.[1]
