COMMENT: This map is not from c. 1650 but is a modern New Netherland-New Sweden map with fabricated geographical borders. Its coloring has neither historical meaning nor cartographic or geographical significance. The caption "The relative location of Nieuw Nederland and Nya Sverige in eastern North America" is erroneous and, hence, nonsensical. This map is "factually inaccurate" and either an uninformed creation by an amateur or a deliberate deception which should have no room in an encyclopedia or on an article of New Netherland or, for that matter, of New Sweden. Wikipedia editors, especially Laura Scudder ☎ who posted this map last on the New Netherland article, have an encyclopedic duty to remove it from the respective sites. April 25, 2006. DeKoning
